Night 3

Pastors Troy and Leanna Brewer, OpenDoor Church, Burleson, TX

HOW DO WE ADORN OURSELVES?

Isaiah 61:10

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

Job 29:14

I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; My justice was like a robe and a turban.

Psalm 30:11

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness…

In New Testament, we are told to “Put On” or get decked out in the following things:

  • Love
  • Forgiveness
  • A tender heart
  • Humility
  • Esteeming others
  • Brokenness
  • Honor & Authority
  • Submission
  • Obedience
  • Patience
  • Gratefulness
  • Contentment
  • Praise
  • Trust
  • Self Control
  • Our Speech & thoughts
  • Sincerity
  • A good work ethic
  • Compassion

ADORNED SCRIPTURES:

CHRISTIAN WOMAN TO ADORN THEMSELVES IN HUMILITY

1 Peter 3:5

For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands…

NEW JERUSALEM

Revelation 21:2

Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

That’s how we are supposed to be adorned on the outside but I’m going to give you the word for how we are are decked out on the inside

Adoration

Adoration is a  disciplined emotional response to the love of God.

Adoration, after all, is passion with intentionality.

Affection is state of being affected by something or the state of affecting something else.

You think about things in a way to where you let it affect you

James 5:16

Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Effectual: things that effect you; successful or producing an intended result

Avails: help, benefit; an opportunity or available resources

but a great word for determination  is ABIDING

Abiding means we value and honor our relationship with God above all others.

Abide in Me, and I in you,” Jesus said in John 15:4. “As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.”

When we keep our consciousness focused on God, our faith increases exponentially.
