DREAMS & DARK SPEECH

PASTOR TROY BREWER, OPENDOOR CHURCH, BURLESON, TX

Job 33:14-18

For God may speak in one way, or in another,

Yet man does not perceive it.

15 In a dream, in a vision of the night,

When deep sleep falls upon men,

While slumbering on their beds,

16 Then He opens the ears of men,

And seals their instruction.

17 In order to turn man from his deed,

And conceal pride from man,

18 He keeps back his soul from the Pit,

And his life from perishing by the sword.

That was from the Old Testament and the book of Job is thought to be the oldest book in the Bible, written even before Moses penned Genesis.

So, does God still speak to us in dreams today?

Especially today. We’re so busy and distracted, our sleep time is often the only opportunity The Lord has to communicate with us and call us to Him.

DREAMS ARE ALL ABOUT RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.

Numbers 12:6-8

“Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream. 7 Not so with My servant Moses; He is faithful in all My house. 8 I speak with him face to face, Even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant Moses?”

  • The Hebrew word for “Dark Speech” here is CHIDAH – riddle, question, perplexing
  • Chidah, or “dark speech” is the language of dreams.

WHY RIDDLES, PARABLES AND PERPLEXITIES? RELATIONSHIP!

  • Proverbs 15:2 – It is the glory of God to conceal a matter…
  • Proverbs 8:17 – I love those who love me and those who seek me diligently will find me.

UPGRADE FROM DARK SPEECH IS FACE TO FACE:MOSES

Numbers 12:7

Not so with My servant Moses; He is faithful in all My house. 8 I speak with him face to face, Even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant Moses?”

• Faithfulness

• Friendship

• Face-to-face

KNOCKING IN DREAMS IS ALSO ABOUT RELATIONSHIP & INTIMACY

Waking up to knocking is common. What does it mean in the prophetic?

Revelation 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

THIS IS ABOUT ABOUT FREE WILL. JESUS WILL NOT GO WHERE HE IS NOT INVITED OR WELCOME. HE IS A GENTLEMAN.

John 10:7

So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep…”

DOORS HAVE TO DO WITH ACCESS TO JESUS.

  • SO, WHAT’S THE SIGNIFICANCE OF KNOCKING? LET’S LOOK AT SCRIPTURE:

Revelation 3:8

“I know your works: behold, I have set before you an open door, and no man can shut it: for you have a little strength, and have kept my word, and have not denied my name.”

THIS IS JESUS SAYING, “BECAUSE YOU HAVE SERVED ME WELL BY SERVING OTHERS SELFLESSLY, I AM GIVING YOU FAVOR THAT NO MAN CAN STOP.

OPEN THE DOOR. LET GOD IN BECAUSE HE WANTS TO TALK WITH YOU!

• Knocking on God’s door signifies using your favor.

• Hearing God knock is a word about faith.

This should blow you away: there are 10 scriptures (10 = perfect order) which speak of knocking on doors – spiritual doors. Seven (7 = the Spirit of God) are about knocking and using your favor.

SIGNIFICANCE OF DOORS:

Revelation 3:20

Behold I stand at the door and knock. If any man hears my voice and opens the door…

John 10:7

So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep…”

Isaiah 22:22

“The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder. Then he shall open, and no one shall shut. And he shall shut, and no one shall open.”

ISAIAH 22:22 IS ACTUALLY A PROPHECY OF JESUS!
